Closure
To close and leave behind,
to lock that door and keep things inside
to walk alone in your mind,
arranging the pain of the years
on the shelves of hope,
alphabetical order…
timeline…
trauma.
I have no say in what comes first
Or even write this poem.
***
I Walk away and keep going
pepper the day with stories
throw them on the side of the road
so they may grow one day
and become witnesses,
or the jury of our inhumanity.
***
to close,
to end,
to confine
to be your own jailor and oppressor
so others can feel free
of asking and caring
of the guilt of not being there
***
Closure is to hope again
